McCarthy agrees to take over as Ireland manager


Mick McCarthy is set to take over as Republic of Ireland manager, the Irish Times reports.

After Martin O’Neill left the post on Wednesday, the FAI and McCarthy have agreed a two-year deal worth €1.2 million annually. 

McCarthy previously managed Ireland from 1996 to 2002. 

Everton eye Gabigol loan


Everton are hoping to take Inter striker Gabriel Barbosa, aka 'Gabigol', on loan, claims TuttoMercatoWeb.

The Brazilian has rediscoverd his form on loan at Santos in his home country, scoring 17 goals this season after a difficult spell with Inter and then on loan at Benfica

Inter would prefer to sell Barbosa outright, but the Toffees will look to make a loan move for the 22-year-old in January. 

U.S. finalizing agreement with Berhalter


U.S. Soccer is finalizing an agreement with Gregg Berhalter to be the new manager of the U.S. men's national team, Yahoo! Sports reports. 

The Columbus Crew manager has long been considered the front-runner for the position, which has been filled by Dave Sarachan on an interim basis for more than a year. 

An announcement is expected late next week, with a press conference to be held in early December. 

Galatasaray interested in Solanke


Galatasray have been in pursuit of Liverpool's Divock Origi in recent weeks but, if that move doesn't come to fruition, the club has another target.

According to Fotosport, the Turkish club is interested in Reds forward Dominic Solanke, who Jurgen Klopp hinted could go on loan in January.

Origi is seen as likely to go to Wolves, while Solanke could certainly use the first-team minutes after struggling last season before failing to appear, so far, this campaign.

'Barcelona too big for Dembele'


Former Barcelona midfielder Bernd Schuster says Barcelona made a mistake signing Ousmane Dembele, adding that the club is "too big for him”.

Dembele has scored six goals for Barcelona this season, but reports of tardiness have only intensified the pressure on the World Cup winner.

“There are players who are worthy of playing for Barcelona and others who aren't and you can see that from the start,” former Blaugrana star Schuster.

Choudhury signs new deal with Leicester City


Hamza Choudhury has signed a new contract with the Leicester City that will keep him with the club through 2022, the club announced on Friday.

Choudhury came up through Leicester's academy and began his breakthrough with the first team with eight appearances last season.

The 21-year-old midfielder has appeared just once this campaign, though, as Leicester sit 10th in the league.

Rabiot set for one final meeting to determine PSG future


Adrien Rabiot is set to meet with PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi one final time in an effort to work out a deal, according to Sport

Rabiot is out of contract this summer, with Barcelona seen as one of several clubs after his signature. 

PSG are expected to offer a significant contract to the midfielder, who would command a high signing-on fee should he move on a free transfer this summer. 

Campbell linked with Macclesfield Town


Former Arsenal star Sol Campbell has been linked with the vacant managerial position at League Two side Macclesfield Town.

According to BBC, Campbell is in talks with the club, which currently sits bottom of the league with just one win from 18 matches.

Campbell has never managed before but has been involved with the England U-21 setup. 

The former defender has previously been linked with Grimsby Town and Oxford United

Klopp stunned by Fabinho rumours


Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is baffled by the “completely crazy” speculation suggesting that Fabinho could be moved on after just a few months at Anfield.

The Reds boss is, however, prepared to consider letting Dominic Solanke leave on loan if a suitable offer is tabled in January.

Chelsea hopeful on Hazard deal


Maurizio Sarri is hopeful Chelsea can persuade Eden Hazard to follow N'Golo Kante in signing a new long-term contract with the club.

The former Red Devils striker told Betfair: “I would be very sad to see him leave and Manchester United need to do all they can to keep him, but you can see why players head get turned when names like Real Madrid are mentioned."

Barcelona are considering a January swoop for former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, Goal understands, as they seek to bolster their backline.

Perez wants to bring Cavani to Real Madrid


Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani has emerged as a January transfer target for Real Madrid, according to Don Balon.

Los Blancos President Florentino Perez has long been an admirer of the Uruguayan star and hopes to secure his signature for a €60m (£53m, $68m) fee in the new year.

Cavani, 32, has scored eight goals in eight Ligue 1 games for PSG this term and remains one of the most deadly centre-forwards in European football.

Schone extends his Ajax contract until 2020


Ajax midfielder Lasse Schone has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

According to Ajax' official Twitter account, the 32-year-old's original deal was set to expire at the end of the season, but he will now remain with the club until at least 2020.

Schone expressed his delight following the announcement on Friday, stating: "I am happy that the option has been lifted and that I can stay with this great club for another year."

Higuain could be sent back Juventus from AC Milan


According to Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain could return to Juventus at the end of the season on economic grounds.

The Rossoneri paid €18m (£16m, $20m) to bring in the Argentine on loan during the last transfer window, before agreeing a €36m (£32m, $41m) option to buy.

However, Milan could end up losing €37m (£33m, $42m) from their overall budget by the time his contract exipres in 2021 and would therefore rather send him back to Turin in May than take the loss.

Premier League big hitters eye Fry


Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are all tracking Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry, per The Scotsman.

The 21-year-old has made 13 appearances this season and is flourishing under Tony Mowbray, with Celtic and Bournemouth also interested.

Dortmund set to sign Alcacer from Barcelona for €23m this weekend


Borussia Dortmund will take up the option to sign Paco Alcacer on a permanent deal in the coming days, after his impressive start to the season in Germany.

According to Kicker, the Bundesliga giants can secure his long-term services by paying a €23m (£20m, $26m) fee to Barcelona, who allowed him to leave the Camp Nou on an initial season loan during the summer transfer window.

Alcacer has hit nine goals in just four starts for Dortmund and they are now hoping to tie him down to a lucrative four-year contract.

Milan offer Ibra €2.8m deal


AC Milan have offered Zlatan Ibrahimovic a six-month contract worth €2.8 million-per-year, according to Corriere Della Sera.

The striker is set to return to Italy from LA Galaxy on an initial half-year deal, with the club holding the option to extend by a further year.

Gayle pushing for WBA move


Dwight Gayle wants to join West Brom permanently in the summer, per the Northern Echo.

The striker is currently on loan at the club from Newcastle, but he is keen to sign a permanent contract at the Hawthorns.

Blackburn to keep Spurs target Dack


Blackburn Rovers are set to keep Tottenham target Bradley Dack in January.

Spurs are said to be monitoring the attacking midfielder, but Tony Mowbray, Dack's manager, says all bids will be rejected.

“He won’t go anywhere, even if we get big bids, in this next window,” Mowbray said at an annual fans’ forum.

Record Chelsea deal for Kante


N'Golo Kante has expressed his delight at committing to fresh terms at Chelsea, with Goal of the understanding that his fresh terms are worth around £290,000-a-week.

Mbappe 'plan B' for Real Madrid if move for Neymar fails


French prodigy Kylian Mbappe is being eyed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez if they are unable to secure the mega transfer of PSG superstar Neymar, says Don Balon.

The Spanish publication reports that a move for Mbappe would be somewhat cheaper than the acquisition of Neymar, allowing for the La Liga giants to also pursue the signings of another attacker - with Harry Kane, Roberto Firmino and Mauro Icardi the options mentioned.

Ajax talent Frenkie de Jong has also been touted as a possible target with Madrid attempting to rejuvenute their squad after their struggles in La Liga this season.

Real Madrid unlikely to renew Modric contract


Real Madrid will not extend Luka Modric's deal with the club at its conclusion in 2020, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

The 33-year-old was close to a move to Inter Milan in the summer but remained in the Spanish capital at the conclusion of the transfer window.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Madrid president Florentino Perez will look to replace the ageing Croatian - who recently claimed FIFA's Best player award and was named the Goal 50 best player of 2018 - with Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen.

Inter Milan are understood to still be keen to bring Modric to the San Siro.

Dortmund eye Everton teen Gordon


Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund are thought to be preparing a swoop for Everton teenager Anthony Gordon, per the Daily Mail.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is one of the more highly-rated products of the Toffees academy in recent years and has made a senior appearance in the Europa League this season.

Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in looking to take Gordon to Germany, to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho as the latest young British export.

Chelsea are the latest side to join the pursuit of 20-year-old Lyon midfielder Houssem Aour, with Maurizio Sarri’s side looking to sweep the youngster to Stamford Bridge, per the Daily Mail.

The Blues are amongst a handful of suitors looking to prise the Ligue 1 starlet away from France, joining Premier League rivals Arsenal and La Liga giants Barcelona in the chase for his signature.

Origi wanted by Galatasaray


Liverpool’s Divock Origi is a target for Turkish outfit Galatasaray in the January transfer window but the Super Lig champions may find themselves foiled by FFP rules, says the Liverpool Echo.

The Belgium international has struggled for regular first team game-time at Anfield and could be set for a move from Merseyside.

Galatasaray are thought to be interested in taking the 23-year-old on loan – but the Reds are said to be only willing to hear permanent offers, which may thwart such a temporary approach.

Adam not ruling out return to Rangers


Stoke City’s Charlie Adam has refused to rule out a return to Rangers and a reunion with former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard, per the Express.

The 32-year-old spent six years with the Scottish Premiership club, though spent significant periods away on loan.

Adam won the EFL Cup while at Liverpool with Gerrard but has been with the Potters since 2012 and stayed with the club following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Man United eye Milenkovic to bolster back-line


Manchester United may look to capture Serbia international Nikola Milenkovic from Serie A side Fiorentina in the January transfer window, reports Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old, who featured for his nation in his year’s World Cup in Russia, has stated all 12 league games for the Italian outfit this year, scoring twice.
