Hoedt free to leave Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will allow Wesley Hoedt to leave this month if he wants to.

The former RB Leipzig manager has yet to name the defender in a starting line-up since taking over from Mark Hughes, under whom the Dutchman was a regular figure.

"Yeah, it's not the best for Wesley, that's right. It's the same for Gabbiadini or Steven (Davis). The guys went away to find other solutions, it's better for them. For Wesley it can be the same. We don't send any player away but if he feels like he is not used like wants from us, he should think about it."

Paredes to replace Fabregas

Leandro Paredes is set to replace Cesc Fabregas at Chelsea this month, according to the Mirror.

The Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder has reportedly agreed a £30m (€33.6m/$38.56m) deal with the Blues, and Nicolo Barella of Cagliari is also rumoured to have agreed a £40m (€44.8m/$51.4m) switch to Stamford Bridge.

However, Barella is reluctant to leave Cagliari mid-season, paving the way for Paredes to join this month, with the Italian possibly joining him in the summer.

Hairston joins Houston Dynamo

Marlon Hairston has joined Houston Dynamo from Colorado Rapids for a fee of $175,000, according to the Rapids' official website.

The 24-year-old winger has managed just seven goals and 13 assists from 95 MLS appearances and will hope to revive his career at a new club.

However, his new club will no doubt be pleased to have picked up a versatile, relatively young player with extensive experience for such a low amount.

Leeds to land Casilla?

Leeds United are set for a sensational move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The 32-year-old is now third-choice behind Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas, and has not made a single appearance for the club in all competitions this season.

Marcelo Bielsa is hoping to have the deal wrapped up before the club's next match against Stoke, with a new goalkeeper a priority since on-loan shot-stopper Jamal Blackman broke his leg and had to be sent back to Chelsea.

Guardiola: No need for January signings

Pep Guardiola has said he is usually not able to sign the players he wants in the January transfer window.

The Manchester City boss has admitted that his side are unlikely to be welcoming any new faces despite being involved in four competitions and having no genuine replacement for defensive midfielder Fernandinho.

Guardiola insisted that long-term signings are generally unavailable mid-season and that he would prefer to wait for the right target.

Sevilla reach agreement for Wober

Sevilla have reached an agreement to sign young Ajax defender Maximilian Wober, subject to a medical, according to their official website.

The Austrian, 20, is a left-footed centre-back who can also operate as a left-back, and will move for a fee thought to be in the region of €10.5m (£9.4m/$12m).

Wober has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Ajax this season, although many have been from the bench.

Balotelli to stay at Nice?

Mario Balotelli could remain at Nice this season, despite reports of a breakdown in the relationship between the striker and manager Patrick Vieira.

The enigmatic forward had often been criticised this season and was heavily linked with a January exit, but Vieira has said that "nothing is impossible" regarding the Italian's future.

Balotelli has been left out of Nice's last four matches as the club seeks a resolution to the problem.

Colorado Rapids sign Feilhaber

The 33-year-old has left Los Angeles FC upon the expiry of his contract, and is an MLS veteran, having made 236 league appearances across three clubs.

He has notched 37 goals and 56 assists in that time - a creditable return for a midfielder.

Cardiff eye N'Jie loan

Cardiff City are hopeful of landing Clinton N'Jie on loan from Marseille, according to Sky Sports.

The 25-year-old winger represents the Bluebirds' best chance of a signing this winter, having hit stumbling blocks over proposed deals for Nathaniel Clyne - who joined Bournemouth - as well as Adrien Tameze and Emiliano Sala.

Sevilla sign Munir

Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Muir El Haddadi from Barcelona.

The forward, 23, has been picked up for a meagre €1,050,000 fee, with just six months left on his contract.

Warnock wants a striker

Bilbao want Llorente back

Athletic Bilbao are desperate to re-sign Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente.

Llorente has played just 27 Premier League minutes over five substitute appearances so far this season but provides cover for Harry Kane up front.

The Spaniard scored 111 goals in eight seasons with Athletic and could be persuaded to move in search of first-team football, but it remains to be seen if Spurs will allow Vincent Janssen to assume the mantle of second-choice striker.

Burton sign Clarke on loan

The right-back, 23, featured in 28 Championship games last season but has only played in one so far this term.

Monaco announce Fabregas

Monaco have announced the £10m (€11.2m/$12.8m) signing of Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea via social media.

A deal had already been struck between the Ligue 1 outfit and the Blues, but it was not known if the midfielder would be moving this month or in the summer. 

However, the announcement confirms that Fabregas will be linking up with former team-mate Thierry Henry at the principality club immediately.

Liverpool's Awoniyi joins Mouscron on loan

Liverpool's Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Belgian outfit Royal Excel Mouscron on loan for the rest of the season, subject to a medical, according to Liverpool's official website.

The striker, 21, had his loan deal at KAA Gent ended early as he scored just three goals in 22 appearances for the club.

He now rejoins a club where he spent the 2017-18 season on loan, scoring 11 goals in all competitions. 

Besiktas interested in Choupo-Moting

Besiktas are looking into the prospect of signing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Paris-Saint Germain, according to France Football.

The forward has made just eight Ligue 1 appearances since his surprise move from Stoke City and the Turkish side hope that they can lure him away with the prospect of regular, first-team football.

The Cameroonian is currently behind the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler in the pecking order.

Everton consider Batshuayi bid

Cardiff and Palace battle for Moses

The Blues have been linked with several top European stars this month, including AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea's home clash in the Premier League against Newcastle on Saturday, Sarri stated: "In my opinion, we need two players, but it's up to the club. As you can understand, I cannot tell you where [we need to strengthen]. The club knows my opinion.”

Neymar begging for Barca return branded 'fake news' by his father
