Hassan Sunny now shares the goalkeeping spotlight with the likes of Gianluigi Buffon, Petr Cech and David de Gea, among other great shot-stoppers.
The Telegraph conjured up a list of the top 20 goalkeepers in the world and ranked the 32-year-old Singaporean 18th.
What makes this accolade more prominent is that Sunny is the only goalkeeper on that list that has never competed in Europe.
The current Army United custodian was once remembered for his blunder in the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup, where he was caught off his line, allowing rivals Malaysia to score against Singapore, eventually kicking the Lions out of the competition.
When he first saw the post, Sunny told the The New Paper that he initially thought it was a prank.
He said: "I first saw it when someone posted the link on Twitter and tagged me. I thought it was a belated April Fool's joke.
Eventually Sunny came to terms with the reality of it and added that “to be noted and categorised together with those names is unimaginable.”
The top three goalkeepers according to the Telegraph are Manuel Neuer in first place and, David de Gea and Gianluigi Buffon in second and third respectively.
