Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Manqele told to lose weight before joining Free State Stars

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele has been told to lose weight before he can join Free State Stars.

"We will try and see if he can lose the weight and if that proves to be the case then we are good to go," Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena told SowetanLive.

The 30-year-old is said to be carrying many extra pounds and Mokoena demands that he slim down in order to earn a move.

Manqele is currently on trial under the watchful eye of Stars coach Sammy Troughton and he is believed to have impressed Ea Lla Koto's coaching staff.

The Randfontein-born has struggled with his weight over the last few years.

His spell at Mamelodi Sundowns ended because of his weight problem where the club had to once put him on a six week 'fat attack' programme.

It remains to be seen whether he slims down to earn the move to where it all started for him as a professional footballer.
