Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Predictions: EPL Matchweek 9 Match Odds & Best Bets

Crystal Palace will host Chelsea this Saturday at Selhurst Park in a Matchweek 9 London Derby.

The Blues will play their first Premier League match under new manager Graham Potter, after the former Brighton gaffer took the place of Thomas Tuchel back on Sept. 8. Chelsea are coming off a 2-1 victory over West Ham in their latest EPL match and have earned a 3-1-2 record through seven contests.

Meanwhile, Palace sit 16th in the Premier League table, having earned just one win so far this season. Patrick Vieira’s side sits just two points from the relegation zone and could really use a boost.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Prediction

Crystal Palace 1-2 Chelsea

The Eagles’ last win against Chelsea came in 2017. However, the Blues are in a complicated transition period, so this match could be quite unpredictable.

Chelsea’s attack has been inconsistent at best - and non-existent at worst - this season. That said, I expect to see a more aggressive approach now that Potter has been given ample time to learn about his new players.

Raheem Sterling enters as the primary weapon for the Blues to this point, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having yet to contribute in his short time with the club, and slow starts for both Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.

I expect that to change on Saturday, with more players involved, with the possibility of Armando Broja seeing increased playing time, as well. It should also be noted that Havertz grabbed a brace in the UEFA Nations League for Germany in their draw against England midweek.

Palace can be difficult to deal with, despite their record, having drawn with Liverpool and Newcastle United, and mounting an early 2-0 lead against Manchester City before falling, 4-2. So, do not be surprised when the Eagles put on a strong showing.

In the end, this match will likely be decided by time of possession, a category that Chelsea traditionally dominates. Although, I do not predict a clean sheet for the Blues with Wilfried Zaha, who has scored four goals this season, running around on the pitch for the opposition.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Best Bets

➕ Chelsea Wins & Both Teams Score (+280) at BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

A straight up Chelsea win is listed at -120 (or -300 for Draw No Bet), so the best path for profit is to ride my prediction for the Blues to win, while still conceding a goal to Palace.

You could pivot to an Multiple Correct Score (1:2, 1:3, or 1:4) wager at +375, but that would limit further combinations for victory that may not be worth the boost.

➕Kai Havertz: Anytime Score (+250) at BetMGM

WAGER: 1 Unit

As mentioned above, the German striker had a great match during the UEFA Nations League against England midweek, scoring two goals.

Look for the German forward to ride this wave of confidence into the Premier League for a team that could desperately use a spark on offense.
