Al Ahly boss Patrice Carteron unfazed by absence of key players ahead of Champions League final

Al Ahly coach Patrice Carteron is not worried by the absence of his key players ahead of Friday’s Caf Champions League final, second leg at the Stade Olympique de Rades.

The Egyptians carry a 3-1 lead from the reverse fixture played at home last week, but will be missing the services of injured Fathy and suspended Azarou who took part in the home leg.

Already having played well in previous knockout matches without influential Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul and Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi, Carteron still feels they have nothing to worry about following the latest casualties.

“We’re well prepared for the game and focused on snatching the cup in Tunisia,” Carteron was quoted as saying by Kingfut.

“We have the needed solutions to compensate for the absences we’re currently facing. For example, Mohamed Hany can replace injured Ahmed Fathy.

“I would like to thank fans traveling to Tunisia to support us. I am honored to be leading Al Ahly and winning the title is the only thing I am thinking about right now.”

Either Marwan Mohsen or his namesake Salah Mohsen is expected to start in place of Azarou who is Al Ahly’s top marksman in the Champions League this season with six goals.

Besides Mohamed Hany, Bassem Ali can also come in for Fathy.
