World Cup: Senegal's journey before meeting England in the Round of 16

Aliou Cisse's Senegal recovered from a disappointing start against the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup, to then by the end of the group stage, eventually seal their place in the last 16 where they are scheduled to play England on Sunday.

This is one of the most highly anticipated matches in the second round with the African champions up against one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Qatar.

The Teranga Lions will want to take destiny in their own hands this time after exiting Russia 2018 on the fair-play rule after they were tied with Japan in second place in their group back then.

In Qatar they have reached the knockout round, bringing back memories of the last time they achieved this, in 2002.

In South Korea and Japan, the African nation reached the last eight before falling to Turkey who won the game with a dramatic golden goal.
