Blues onto third manager of the season
Eustace and Rooney moved on
Recruitment market now open for business
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Blues are eager to reinforce their ranks after seeing promotion hopes in 2023-24 fade and a potential relegation dogfight in the Championship narrow collective focus. They are onto their third manager of the season, with Wayne Rooney given just 15 games at the helm after being appointed as successor to John Eustace.
That project will require money to be spent, but Mowbray is eager to point out that little will be splashed in the current transfer window. He has told BBC Radio WM of how much recruitment business is being discussed at St Andrew’s: “Lots I would have to say, more than I expected. I'm quite hopeful, I think [technical director] Craig Gardner's going to have a busy few weeks. It's not a window where we can spend millions of pounds, but we can move things around.”
