    WHAT HAPPENED?

Following Plymouth's tight escape from relegation to League One earlier this year, Rooney was named manager of the Pilgrims. The Sun have reported that a 'fly-on-the-wall documentary' series about Rooney's time at Plymouth has started filming as they follow the side's season. Similar documentaries have previously been successful for the likes of Sunderland, and Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned Wrexham.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

With four victories and four draws in his first 15 Championship games as manager, Rooney has had a mixed start at life in Home Park. The Pilgrims currently sit 18th and one point above the drop zone, and the cameras and filming crew have been following the season and the Manchester United legend in particular as they also take a look at his off-the-field life in Devon. However, the decision has not gone down well with some Plymouth fans.

  • WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

Plymouth supporter @KyleGatfield97 wrote on X: "Embarrassing - we’re a laughing stock," while @CMpafc wrote: "Very very very embarrassing."

Another fan @troyhill91 added: "He seems to want to do everything other than focussing on winning football matches. Theres a time and a place for everything and for me, the timing couldn’t be further off!"

And @epicfail2048 posted: "To me this has the potential to massively embarrass the club and just shows his appointment was nothing to do with footballing reasons!. If it works great but deeply sceptical."

Finally @pafc_brad offered a scathing assessment of the news: "Cringe embarrassing complete joke that’s what I think."

  • WHAT NEXT FOR PLYMOUTH?

Rooney's men are unbeaten in their last two games in the Championship, and they will look to carry that form into their next clash against Watford on Friday, November 23 at Home Park.
