The five-time Ballon d’Or winner sat out a potential reunion with eternal rival Lionel Messi through injury when Al-Nassr crushed Inter Miami 6-0. He was able to return in a meeting with Saudi Pro League rivals Al-Hilal, but suffered a 2-0 defeat in that contest.

Ronaldo reacted angrily to Messi taunts from the stands during a disappointing collective display against Al-Hilal, before then rubbing a scarf against his crotch and throwing it back into stands when making his way down the tunnel.

Prior to that, it has emerged that Ronaldo also threw away the medal that he received for finishing as runners-up in the Riyadh Cup. As a multiple Champions League winner, with titles collected in England, Spain and Italy, CR7 is not a man to settle for second best.

Ronaldo’s attention is about to turn back to competitive matters, with Al-Nassr readying themselves for the resumption of AFC Champions League and Saudi Pro League campaigns. The Portuguese is leading the Golden Boot race in the Saudi top-flight this season, with 20 efforts to his name, and was the world-leading top scorer in 2023 with 54 strikes recorded for club and country.
