  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The former LA Galaxy star caused quite the uproar when he appeared on Fox Sports' coverage of France against Austria in Euro 2024 on Monday night. Fans were taken aback to see the 42-year-old - who was known for his buzz cuts and crew cuts during his career - sporting a questionable hairstyle, leaving patches of his scalp exposed. That prompted ex-Galaxy teammate Mike Magee to poke fun at Donovan on X (formerly Twitter) as he shared a series of texts between the pair.

  • WHAT MIKE MAGEE AND LANDON DONOVAN SAID

Magee showed a direct message exchange with Donovan on X, which began: “LD (Landon Donovan) check Twitter ASAP and prob fire your barber.”

Donovan replied: “Where were you 7 hours ago??? Had a hair transplant procedure two weeks ago and was told it wouldn’t show up on camera.”

Magee then asked if he could publish this back and forth, to which Donovan responded: “Whatever, I deserve it.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The fact that Donovan gave Magee the go ahead to publish shows how much of a good sport he is. While this will not be forgotten quickly, more will remember his 57 goals and 157 caps for his country, and seeing him become an LA Galaxy legend, while also enjoying stints at Bayer Leverkusen, Everton, Bayern Munich, among others, in an impressive career.
