Ollie Palmer predicts when Wrexham will be in the Premier League as he's convinced Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney will take Red Dragons 'right to the very top'

The Red Dragons took their first step down that path last season when landing the National League title. They are now flying high in League Two, with back-to-back promotions on the cards. They remain a long way adrift of hitting ultimate targets, but Palmer is convinced that the most ambitious of clubs will one day rise to the “very top”.

Palmer has told the Men In Blazers podcast of why everyone believes in the common goal at SToK Racecourse: “I’m working to do a job that gets the club promoted, that’s why I’m at Wrexham. Why can’t people say ‘I believe we will get promoted’, because that is what we are working towards doing. Boxers talk about winning, NFL players talk about winning their games, basketballers talk about smashing their opponents. I believe that this football club can go right to the very top. There is nothing standing in the way of this football club to get to the Premier League in the next 10 years, in terms of the infrastructure, the fan base, the investment and the quality of players that are coming into the squad and I’m sure they will bring in future. There is nothing standing in this club’s way of getting to the Premier League in 10 years. If it takes 12-15, sorry then I was wrong by two or three years, but we believe that this club will go right to the very top.”

Palmer joined the Wrexham adventure in January 2022, as he was thrust in front of documentary cameras in North Wales. He claims to have been aware of what he was letting himself in for, but concedes that the Red Dragons have exceeded his expectations. He added on whether life under the spotlight has come as a surprise: “I had a little idea just because of who the owners were and what the manager was trying to achieve. When we spoke before I signed for Wrexham, he [Phil Parkinson] told me about the football club, the community and the passion. I had a small idea that it would be a rollercoaster, but probably not as good as this!”

Wrexham sit just two points behind League Two leaders Stockport with a game in hand, and will be back in action on Saturday when taking in a trip to Welsh rivals Newport County – with an eight-day break then being enjoyed before travelling to Championship side Blackburn in the FA Cup fourth round.
