  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Per Le Parisien, Neymar has been referred to the labour court over claims that he never declared the employment of the 35-year-old Brazilian woman, who is also a mother of four. She alleges that she worked seven-day weeks between January 2021 and October 2022 and is demanding a payment of €368,000 (£321,000/$400,000) from the Al-Hilal star.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Le Parisien also reports that the claimant was forced to work up until two weeks before the premature birth of her fourth child, and she subsequently left her position. From 2021, she is said to have worked 60-hour weeks for €15 per hour, although she claims to have never received a payslip, nor was she allowed any holidays or paid leave.

  • WHAT THEY SAID

The claimant's lawyers have said: “Neymar exploited our client’s precariousness to impose undignified working conditions on her, in violation of the basic rules of labour law.

“We deplore that such a personality could have shown so much inhumanity, even going so far as to kick our client out of his home a few days before giving birth prematurely, while she was complaining of pain. We are now considering giving this case the criminal action it deserves.“

Neymar's camp have told Le Parisien that they have not been informed of the case.

    WHAT NEXT?

Neymar is currently sidelined with an ACL injury. It remains to be seen if the case will continue, and if it will reach a criminal court. That is a possibility should the woman's claims be proven.
