Mike Maignan emerges on Man Utd's transfer radar amid Andre Onana question marks - with AC Milan struggling to tie star goalkeeper down to a new contract

Manchester United could consider signing AC Milan's star goalkeeper Maignan as the Serie A giants are struggling to reach an agreement with his representatives on a contract extension. According to Corriere della Sera, the Milan shot-stopper is demanding wages over €8 million per season in the new contract, which is more than what the Italian club can afford to offer.

Several top European clubs are chasing the Frenchman at the moment, with Bayern Munich being in pole position as they line up a long-term replacement for club legend Manuel Neuer.

However, there have been plenty of question marks over Onana's performances since his summer move to Old Trafford from Inter Milan, which may prompt United to go after the 28-year-old custodian and try to pip Bayern.

Chelsea enquired about Maignan's availability in the summer, but they later backed out of the deal as Milan's demands were more than what the club were willing to spend. They eventually brought in Robert Sanchez from Brighton, but the Blues continue to remain interested in the Milan star.

The former Lille goalkeeper has appeared in 16 matches across all competitions this season, and has managed to keep seven clean sheets. Maignan will be next seen in action for the Rossoneri on Saturday when they take on Atalanta in a crucial Serie A encounter.
