Martin Odegaard's failure to make the grade at Real Madrid explained by Edu Gapser as Arsenal sporting director identifies contrast with 'special' Jude Bellingham
Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has criticised Real Madrid for their apparent lack of patience with now-Gunners midfielder Martin Odegaard.
In an interview with Tuttosport, Edu criticised Madrid for their lack of patience with Odegaard: "We have been following Martin for many years and perhaps we have had the patience that others have not. Now he is one of our captains, enjoying himself, and is one of the recognisable faces of our team."

WHAT GASPAR SAID ABOUT BELLINGHAM
The sporting director wasn't short of praise for the way Los Blancos have handled another young talent, Jude Bellingham, though: "Now you have to enjoy when you see him playing. We must congratulate Real Madrid and him for the great season he is having. Football is happy to have players like him. His presence is great news.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Odegaard was highlighted as a future star from a young age, but struggled to live up to the hype of his teenage years. After two separate loan spells, he signed for Arsenal on a permanent deal in 2021. Now club captain, he has cemented his place as one of the best midfielders in Europe.

WHAT NEXT FOR ODEGAARD
The attacking midfielder figures to be in the XI this evening as the Gunners take on Luton in the Premier League. A win could temporarily see their lead stretch to five points atop the league.
