Arsenal midfielder Caldentey won the Women's Super League Player of the Season prize at the inaugural Women's Professional Game Awards on Sunday, beating team-mate Alessia Russo and Chelsea pair Aggie Beever-Jones and Sandy Baltimore to the silverware. Maya Le Tissier, Mary Fowler, Olivia Smith, Kiko Seike and Shekiera Martinez had also been nominated.

Caldentey signed for Arsenal last year and has enjoyed a stellar first season with the Gunners. The 29-year-old contributed nine goals and five assists in the WSL and also helped them reach the Women's Champions League final, where she will face former club Barcelona.

While Russo fell short for this particular prize, she was recently named the FWA Women's Footballer of the Year for 2024-25. The England striker also shared the WSL Golden Boot with Manchester City's Khedija Shaw as both players registered 12 goals.
