Getty/GOAL Dortmund's second-half pressure finally paid off when Waldemar Anton pulled one back and City must have had some deja-vu from their late capitulation against Feyenoord last season as they let their German visitors get too close to their goal for comfort.
The Bundesliga side could not build on the momentum, though, and Rayan Cherki made sure City grabbed a third win out of four European games with a sumptuous strike in added time.

AFPGianluigi Donnarumma (6/10):
Had a mixed evening, making some important interventions while looking shaky on a couple of occasions. Made a dog's dinner of a relatively simple punch in the first half while he completely misjudged a cross in the second half. Got his confidence back with a super slide tackle on Chukwuemeka.
Matheus Nunes (6/10):
Didn't look that comfortable and was exposed on a few occasions in the second half as Dortmund grew into the game.
John Stones (7/10):
Brilliant with the ball as usual and got stuck in with a key block on Adeyemi's shot.
Josko Gvardiol (6/10):
Another player who looked shakier as the game went on, playing a dangerous ball across the pitch which forced Donnarumma into action.
Nico O'Reilly (7/10):
A typically energetic and powerful display, effectively operating as an extra midfielder. Should have done better with his wayward effort.
AFPTijjani Reijnders (6/10):
Much improved from his recent displays, bringing energy and incisive passes, such as the one that set Foden on his way to score the first. Loses a mark for switching off and allowing Anton to pounce and give Dortmund hope.
Nico Gonzalez (7/10):
Looked comfortable again anchoring the midfield, using the ball well and being more ambitious than before. He took his eye off the ball a little bit in the second half and received an earful from Guardiola.
Phil Foden (8/10):
Produced two vintage finishes either side of the break thanks to his trademark half-turn. Moved past Ronaldinho in the Champions League scoring charts, and if he keeps his form up will go on to surpass the Brazilian for his impact on the competition.
AFPSavinho (7/10):
Terrorised Dortmund's defence with his searing pace and quick footwork, but was let down by his shooting and final ball.
Erling Haaland (7/10):
Bagged his fifth goal in four Champions League games, getting some real power on his strike. Could have had a couple more and at times went for glory when better options were on.
Jeremy Doku (7/10):
A little less lively than Savinho but more effective, showing his intelligence to spin away from Ryerson and then thread the ball through a crowded box towards Haaland. Had a lapse in concentration which let Ryerson get away from him to tee up Anton.

Had a chance to create a fourth goal after some nice skill but couldn't keep the ball in. Made up for it with a classy finish for the eventual fourth. A luxury asset to be able to bring off the bench.
Bernardo Silva (6/10):
Introduced to inject some experience into the team and prevent Dortmund capitalising further on their goal.
Ruben Dias (6/10):
Brought some much-needed order to the creaking defence.

Replaced Haaland in the 86th minute.
Rayan Ait-Nouri (N/A):
Made a cameo in the 86th minute.
Pep Guardiola (7/10):
Should be delighted with the first-half display and his team's utter dominance. Less so with what happened after the break, but at least his side came through the other side, avoiding a repeat of last season's collapse against Feyenoord.
