'Made us grow' - Leandro Paredes aims subtle dig at Jose Mourinho as Roma midfielder claims Daniele De Rossi's style 'suits the team better' ahead of Europa League semi-final clash with Bayer Leverkusen

Under De Rossi's stewardship, Roma have undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as one of Serie A's most formidable teams. Since his arrival in January, the Giallorossi have clinched victories in nine out of 14 league matches, positioning themselves favourably for a shot at Champions League qualification. This resurgence marks a stark departure from the team's earlier struggles under Mourinho.

Beyond domestic success, Roma have left an indelible mark on the European stage, navigating past formidable opponents in the Europa League. Victories over Feyenoord, Brighton, and Milan in the knockout stages have propelled Roma to the semi-finals, where they are set to face Bayer Leverkusen in a highly anticipated clash.

Speaking to reporters, Paredes highlighted the contagious enthusiasm De Rossi has instilled within the squad and said: "The general growth, not only mine but also that of the team, is due to the enthusiasm that the coach brought us. It was Mourinho's Roma that eliminated Leverkusen from the Europa League in the previous edition of the competition. Now, Xabi Alonso's troops are on a 46-match unbeaten run and it would need a special performance from the Italian side to beat the Bundesliga champions in a two-legged affair, with the decisive second leg set to be held at Bay Arena in Germany.
