American businessman John Textor, who also owns Ligue 1 side Lyon and co-owns Crystal Palace and Botafogo, had shown interest in <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/crystal-palace-lyon-owner-john-textor-makes-new-bid-buy-everton-takeover-saga-drags-on/bltb09cfc8713ea9c80#cs06e6e980b21479d8" target="_blank">becoming the majority owner of Everton </a>as he placed an offer in the initial round of bidding on June 1. Now <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/30445826/everton-bidder-wants-jayz-join-takeover-bid-exclusive/" target="_blank">The Sun</a> reports that Textor wants award-winning musician Jay-Z to be part of the consortium to take over the Toffees.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 54-year-old rap star, who is worth $2.5 billion (£1.9b), is now an entrepreneur and could be tempted to invest in the takeover of the Premier League side as Textor looks to buy out Farhad Moshiri's majority. <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/aug/09/john-textor-new-bid-to-buy-everton-crystal-palace-co-owner?CMP=share_btn_url" target="_blank">The Guardian</a> earlier reported that the Lyon owner would have to sell his Palace shares to buy the Toffees - but he is understood to be confident his stake with the Eagles is 'sought after'.

The Merseyside giants have been in a long, fraught process trying to sell the club. Fans are increasingly exasperated with Moshiri and the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/explained-why-everton-takeover-danger-of-collapse-american-investment-firm-777-partners-facing-pr-disaster/blt02436047ed420a6b" target="_blank">failed takeover attempts by The Friedkin Group and 777 Partners </a>earlier this year.
