James Jones does it again for Wrexham! Midfielder scores on milestone appearance as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's side secure victory over Newport

The Red Dragons claimed three points at the Racecourse Ground with a hard-fought win over their Welsh rivals on Saturday. Early on, however, it looked like they could be in for a tough afternoon after on loan Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo was forced into good saves to deny Will Evans and Seb Palmer-Houlden. Wrexham were much improved in the second half, though, as Elliot Lee's shot cannoned off the post and Paul Mullin couldn't stab home after a goalmouth scramble. But their patience paid off as Jones was in the right place at the right time to slot home from eight yards in the 64th minute. Then three minutes from time Ben Tozer hurled in a long throw and Lee headed in from close range to seal the win.

When the game wasn't quite going Wrexham's way, 27-year-old Scot James Jones popped up with a timely finish to mark a special day for the midfielder.

Defender Eoghan O'Connell had just come back from injury after nearly two months out but after being named in the starting XI, he was unable to start the game and Max Cleworth came in instead. He and Wrexham will hope this is just a minor setback.

Wrexham are back in League Two action on Boxing Day when they host mid-table side Swindon Town at the Racecourse Ground.
