Vincent Kompany kept star striker Harry Kane on the bench after he complained of a calf problem during the club's Champions League clash with Celtic in midweek. In the Englishman's absence, veteran forward Thomas Muller was deployed as the team's No.9.

The Bundesliga leaders got off to a scrappy start as they were unable to produce any major goalscoring opportunities, with Eintracht Frankfurt being the more dominant side initially. Bayern, however, broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time as Michael Olise handed his team the lead. Leroy Sane received a through ball and made a run inside the penalty box before squaring the ball towards Olise, who comfortably slotted home.

The Bavarian side then doubled their lead just past the hour mark as Hiroki Ito scored his first-ever goal for the club. Kevin Trapp completely misjudged Olise's curling corner as the ball came off Rasmus Kristensen's chest before falling into Ito's foot who found the back of the net. Soon after Iro's strike, Kane was finally introduced into the game in the 64th minute as he replaced Muller up front.

Bayern added a third goal in the 83rd minute as Jamal Musiala scored with a brilliant solo move. Alphonso Davies won the ball in their half before finding Musiala with a through pass. The German star twisted and turned as he galloped forward. He even lost balance momentarily inside the box but was quick to recover before scoring past Trapp.

Just seconds before the full-time whistle, second-half substitutes Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry combined before the latter scored a fourth goal for his side to seal a comprehensive win.

    THE MVP

In Kane's absence, Olise turned hero for Kompany's team as he broke the deadlock right before half-time and then delivered an inch-perfect corner from which Ito scored his maiden goal and sealed three points for his side.

    THE BIG LOSER

Trapp's horrible mistake in the second half led to Bayern doubling their lead, which virtually took the game away from Eintracht Frankfurt. The goalkeeper completely misjudged Olise's corner as he failed to fist the ball away.
