The 21-year-old forward could be recalled early from his loan and subsequently sent on another temporary spell away from Anfield in January. The initial move to Leipzig was intended to provide him with the necessary playing time after a challenging 2022-23 season marked by sporadic appearances following his transfer from Fulham. However, Carvalho has had just 257 minutes so far in this campaign which has forced Liverpool to reassess their options.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig have opened dialogues with Liverpool to reassure their trust in the player and have urged the Premier League outfit to let him stay on in Germany. The Premier League side continue to insist that he must return to English shores as gametime is paramount for his development.

In a recent Champions League match against Young Boys, Carvalho played the full 90 minutes for Leipzig. But the fixture had little significance as the German side had already qualified for the knockout stage behind Manchester City.

A decision regarding Carvalho's future is anticipated after December 19, when Leipzig enter the Bundesliga's winter break. Despite the potential recall, it is unlikely that Carvalho will be reintegrated into Liverpool's first team this season as Klopp already has a wealth of attacking riches at his disposal.
