'Deranged enough!' - Wrexham director eager to avoid Champions League discussion for Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney

Hollywood co-owners in North Wales are prepared to dream big, with a sporting fairytale being played out under their stewardship at SToK Racecourse. Four remarkable years at the helm have delivered three successive promotions and a place in the Championship.

Ker is reluctant to be dragged into a future debate, with Reynolds and McElhenney needing little encouragement when it comes to making bold predictions. Wrexham’s community director told the Sports Agent podcast: "Do not encourage them! Please, they’re already deranged enough as it is, I can’t be putting Champions League in their mind. Let’s start with doing alright in the Championship."

Wrexham expect to be competitive in the second tier of English football, but Ker added on the challenges that they face: "It is a bit of a double-edged sword, especially for a club like us, we’ve got a 10,000 seater stadium and we’ve just taken down 3000 temporary seats.

"We are a small lot, our matchday revenues are not massive, our sponsorship revenue is very large and disproportionately large for a club of our size."

That revenue, with the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series helping to pull in fans and partners from around the world, is allowing Phil Parkinson to identify ambitious targets for the summer transfer window in 2025.
