gettyTHE BIGGER PICTURE
February has been a highly frustrating month for Los Blancos, who have suffered two losses and a draw in La Liga, allowing Barcelona to overtake them after surrendering a seven-point lead at the top of the standings.
Real Madrid's recent matches in Spain have been clouded by controversy. The club has formally requested the release of the VAR room audios from their game against Espanyol. In the match against Osasuna, several penalty calls, including fouls and a handball, were ignored by referee Monuera Montero. Additionally, Jude Bellingham was shown a straight red card in the 39th minute after allegedly telling the referee to "f*ck off" in frustration.
Ancelotti did not shy away from blasting the quality of the officiating in LaLiga, stating that they have been deeply hit by the incorrect decision-making.

Having squandered top spot in LaLiga, the defending domestic champions will be keen to reignite their title charge when they host Girona on Sunday, February 23, in what promises to be a cracker of a game.
