Chelsea sweating on Cole Palmer's fitness ahead of Arsenal clash after horror tackle from Man Utd's Lisandro Martinez that left Enzo Maresca fuming

Martinez escaped a sending-off for an ugly tackle on Palmer that caught him on his left knee. Referee Rob Jones cautioned the United defender initially and the VAR decided to stay with Jones' original call. As the Argentine continued on the pitch, Blues boss Enzo Maresca was left fuming as he clearly believed that it was a red card offence.

Maresca granted his players a day off on Monday after a gruelling encounter against the Red Devils. They came back from behind to play out a 1-1 draw. The club had hoped that Palmer's soreness would settle down but he will now undergo a scan to find out the exact extent of his injury, according to The Telegraph. The Blues will hope that the 22-year-old will re-join training on Tuesday.

The England international will get some much-needed rest during the week as he has not been included in the Blues' squad for the Conference League, where they face Armenian side Noah on Thursday.

Maresca's side host Noah in Europe before taking on rivals Arsenal in a crucial Premier League encounter on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. They will be desperate to have Palmer fit and ready.
