    101950 USA kit

There are very few people left who remember this shirt. Heck, it was 75 years ago. It was a moment, though - it was the start of the men's game on the international stage. The U.S. defeated England at the World Cup in this kit, a white jersey with a sash and the American crest. It wasn't the most visually pleasing of shirts, but it was memorable for the statement it made.

The U.S. re-wore the shirt in 2003 to pay homage to the squad that defeated England in what is still considered one of the most important games un U.S. history.

There's something about a late '90s collar on a Nike shirt that hits different. It doesn't matter the country, if Nike was their sponsor, the collar was there - and it was beautiful.

Another red kit, the '98 shirt had a navy collar with a white-blue-white line across the chest that extended onto the sleeves and it was just so sleek. What really made the jersey, though, was the arm cuff. The blue and white ring around the edge of the sleeve that hugged the arm was perfect. Truly, it was a standout kit - it was just unfortunate that the '98 World Cup was nothing short of a catastrophe from a performance perspective.

It was a beautiful kit. Really, it was. However, it's long remembered as the precursor to the downfall of the U.S. in that 2018 World Cup Qualifying cycle. It debuted a new U.S. Soccer crest, and offered a sleek look with white stars across the shoulders - with those iconic stripes.

Many fans labeled it the "Reverse Waldo" (this will make sense further down the list), but it was a kit with which Nike really hit all the markers. It's unfortunate that a lot of fans associate it with that cycle - even though it's not the shirt they wore on that fateful night in Trinidad.

  • CONCACAF Cup - Semifinals, Hondurus v USAAFP

    72008 USA home kit

Not many white kits made this list. This one, is hands-down, the best white kit in USMNT history. It had subtle narrow red stripes across it, along with a subtle V-neck on the collar - so simple and minimal. With navy blue shorts and white socks, it became a memorable look for both those on the pitch and fans in the stands. Nike hit it out of the park with this design after a lot of criticism for the 2006 home World Cup kit.

    62007 USA Copa America kit

You either love it or you hate it - there is no in between. It rules, but it's easy to understand why some may not be fond of it. The shirt broke the orthodox trend of what a soccer jersey should be, and U.S. Soccer has genuinely not produced anything like it until 2025 - the just released Heartbeat kit? EASILY inspired by this shirt.

The shade of blue on this kit was brilliant, and the white pinstripes were perfectly spread out and just thin enough to create a standout pattern on the shirt. It had a bit of a vintage look to it, while also offering soccer fans a unique option at a jersey that worked really well as streetwear, too. Hate it all you want, it's understandable, just know you're wrong at the same time.

  • England v USA: Group C - 2010 FIFA World CupGetty Images Sport

    52010 USA away kit

Nike and U.S. Soccer paid homage the 1950 USMNT World Cup squad with this shirt. It was a shirt worn at the 2010 World Cup, as the U.S. once again drew the the Three Lions - 60 years later. There was a sense of pride with the shirt, and the iconic sash with the now-previous U.S. crest over the heart with the jersey number right beneath it - it was a shirt that just hit every category. It was iconic, it was sleek and it was symmetrical. Just a beautiful shirt.

  • USA v LatviaGetty Images Sport

    42006 USA kit

Not many people remember this one, because it was a shirt worn just one single time. Yeah, once. It was the eve of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and the USMNT played an international friendly against Latvia. Brian McBride scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory, and repped the kit like no other on the pitch.

The shirt itself was a bold design, with red being the dominant color for the first time since their 2000 away kit. It featured a vintage U.S. crest, a floppy collar and a dual-colored sash with the iconic "Don't tread on me" snake design - a symbol used during the American revolution in 1775.

  • YEARENDER-LALAS JUMPSAFP

    31994 USA away kit

It's arguably the most famous U.S. shirt, but not for the modern-day fan. Worn at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, the "denim" kit was all things American at the time. You looked at it and heard Bruce Springsteen singing in the background. The stretched stars across the sleeve and the washed denim look worked so well, landing in the realm of iconic. The Adidas shirt was so popular that it became common streetwear.

  • Ghana v USA: Group G - 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilGetty Images Sport

    22014 USA away kit

A near-perfect design, the "bomb pop" kit is the modern-day gem. Worn at the 2014 World Cup, it was a shirt that was so simple, yet so perfect. Red shorts that bled into the start of the jersey until the chest turned white, and above it, blue. All it needed was the three colors of the American flag with a centralized number and the U.S. crest to be remembered as one of the most iconic U.S. looks. It's a shirt still commonly seen among fans - a clear-cut fan favorite.

  • Honduras v United States - 2013 CONCACAF Gold CupGetty Images Sport

    12012 USA Gold Cup kit

Worn at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup by the USMNT, this is the famous "Where's Waldo" shirt. Iconic in its own way due to the horizontal stripes, the shirt had a beautifully centered jersey number - and it just worked. Far too often, designers throw more than what's necessary into a the kit. This shirt is simple, yet you look at it and you think "America." Reminiscent of the American flag and the iconic children's book character "Waldo," the shirt was everything U.S. fans asked for - and have wanted since.
