Fernando Torres and Andres Iniesta are on fire in Japan!

Former Chelsea striker Torres left Atletico Madrid four months ago, joining Sagan Tosu on a free transfer.

And Torres scored what could prove to be a vital goal in the dying minutes to secure a 2-1 win over Yokohama FM, as the club avoided relegation to the second tier.

The 34-year-old collected the ball on the edge of the box, shimmied past a defender and fired into the bottom corner, prompting delirious scenes in the stands.

At worst, they will face a relegation play-off.

Iniesta, meanwhile, currently plays for Vissel Kobe, and showed on Saturday that he has lost none of his world-class vision.

After a drop of the shoulder in midfield, the former Barcelona star lofted a brilliant through ball into the box for Naoyuki Fujita to score in a 3-3 draw with Shimizu S-Pulse.

Iniesta and Torres have similar records in the J-League, with both players scoring twice prior to Saturday's fixtures.

Vissel are enjoying a more tranquil end to the season, however, and sit comfortably in mid-table, while Sagan could still be demoted to the second tier.

It remains to be seen if either player can add to their bursting trophy cabinets in Japan, however.

Iniesta won nine La Liga titles with Barca, as well as four Champions League trophies, six Copa del Reys, two UEFA Super Cups and three FIFA Club World Cups. He also won the World Cup with Spain, plus two European Championship trophies.

Torres, meanwhile, also won the World Cup and two European Championships, while he was slightly less successful at club level; he won the Champions League and the Europa League, as well as the FA Cup with Chelsea.
