USWNT cruises past Chile in friendly

The U.S. women's national team defeated Chile 3-0 on Friday night in their penultimate friendly before World Cup qualifying begins in October.

Eight minutes into the match, 19-year-old Tierna Davidson scored her first goal for the U.S. with a header off a corner kick.

The U.S. found another goal through a corner kick later in the first half when Chile defender Carla Guerrero diverted Julie Ertz's near-post header over the line for an own goal.

On a night when she earned her 100th cap, Christen Press marked the occasion with a second-half goal when she got on the end of Mallory Pugh's low cross at the back post.

Jill Ellis' side will take on Chile once more on Tuesday night before turning its attention to October's Concacaf Women's Championship, which doubles as qualifying for next summer's World Cup.
