Selangor's sublime 4-1 win against Melaka United in their Super League match on Wednesday was all due to the players' hard work and nothing else, said assistant head coach Nazliazmi Nasir.

In the match that was held at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras, Rufino Segovia opened the night's account in the eighth minute before Tiago Gomes restored parity in the 30th minute through a beautiful freekick.

But young winger Syahmi Safari ensured the three points for the hosts through his goals in the 54th and 90th minute, with Rufino adding his second in the 67th minute.

"The win tonight is down to the players' discipline and their playing as a team. Every single plan worked out especially in the final 15 minutes. We got the chances and we put them away. They knew that they need to capitalise on the chances, even if the possibility of scoring is low. So we kept pressing the defence, and praise Allah, we managed to produce the goals

"The staff and management always kept motivating the players of course, but on the pitch it is all down to them. The credit is theirs, and the win happened because they believed in themselves, there is no special recipe," said Nazliazmi, who was sitting in for head coach Maniam Pachaiappan in the post-match press conference.

With their next match, against Terengganu FC on league matchday three, scheduled to take place this Saturday, their third match in the space of one week, Nazliazmi also provided more updates on the Red Giants' crock list.

"For now, Ilham [Udin Armaiyn] and Alex (Azamuddin Akil) are still injured on top of those carrying knocks," revealed the former youth coach, "We focus more on recovery now due to the packed fixtures, so that we are ready to face Terengganu.

"The encounter against Terengganu will not be easy as we will be playing away from home, and hopefully things will work out."

After two rounds, the Red Giants are now top of the standings with six points, separated from JDT in second place by goal difference.
