Ravanelli applies for Ghana job

Italian manager Fabrizio Ravanelli has confirmed applying for the vacant Ghana coaching role following the departure of Avram Grant last month.

The former Chelsea manager left his post following the expiration of his 26-month contract and Ghana FA have set up a six-member committee to appoint his successor.

Ravanelli, 48, who previously played for Italian giants Juventus, Middlesbrough, Derby County and Scottish side Dundee United, has submitted his application for the Black Stars job.

“It is true that I have submitted my CV to Ghana FA for the Black Stars job. I want to be the first white coach to win the Africa Cup of Nations with the Black Stars,” Ravanelli told Ashh FM.

“It is important to work very hard, be professional and everything will be possible. I have a very good program and every result is possible for me to achieve. I am very ready for this new job and I think it will be a very good experience for me if the football association show trust in me and appoint me as the new coach to succeed Avram Grant,” he added.

Ravanelli has previously coached the youth side of Juventus and French side AC Ajaccio but was sacked by the latter's top hierarchy after only five months in charge.

Goal understands that former Ghana international and 1978 African best Player of the Year Karim Abdul Razak has also submitted his application.
