Partey speaks on Ayews and Ghana

Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey believes the ousted duo of Andre and Jordan Ayew still have a lot to offer the national outfit.

The bothers, on the books of English sides West Ham United and Swansea City respectively, have been snubbed in the Black Stars' last two selections following a disappointing showing against Congo in 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying in September.

They missed out on the team that faced Uganda and Saudi Arabia last month, and are again missing from the team unveiled on Tuesday for the fixture against Egypt on November 12.

"It difficult for the squad to deal with the constant speculation surrounding the Ayew brothers," Partey told KweseESPN.

"They [Jordan and Andre] are good players who have been involved in the national side for a long time.

"I think along with the newer players, we can build a good team going forward."

After three straight appearances at the World Cup, Ghana are set to miss the next edition in Russia next year following a terrible performance in qualifying.

With a match to end the phase, the Black Stars are well out of the race as Egypt, four points clear at the top, have already secured the sole Group E ticket.

"It was a shame to lose Avram Grant because he is a great manager" Partey said.

"Now, Appiah is here and he is also a great coach.

"Each one comes with their own ideas and as the managers changed, there were changes in the team so we needed some time to settle.

"I think that is why qualification did not go well.

"We are disappointed not to have qualified but our focus now is to keep pushing in order to improve."

While Ghana struggle, Partey has been a source of optimism, having hit five goals in his last four outings in national colours.
