Magic Messi, Guardiola’s late winner and Ekambi at the double - The best of La Liga

Lionel Messi was at his scintillating best this past weekend as he inspired Barcelona to a 4-1 win over Real Betis.

The little genius hit a magnificent hat-trick and earned a standing ovation from the entire home crowd at the Benito Villamarin Stadium in what was heralded as one of his greatest performances.

That victory saw Barca extend their lead at the top of LaLiga to 10 points with just 10 matches remaining.

Elsewhere, Sergi Guardiola was the star of the show for Real Valladolid, racing away in the final moments to secure a priceless 2-1 victory at Eibar to help his side move four points clear of the relegation zone.

Fellow strugglers Villarreal also enjoyed a dramatic victory, putting themselves four points from the drop. 

After falling behind at home, Karl Toko Ekambi scored twice in three minutes to turn the game on its head en route to a 3-1 win over second-bottom Rayo Vallecano.
