John Baraza faces former coach Robert Matano as Sofapaka squares it out with Tusker

John Baraza has vowed to demonstrate to his former coach Robert Matano that he did a good job when Sofapaka takes on Tusker.

Sunday’s Kenyan Premier League clash will not only bring together two former champions but two tacticians, who once worked together as a coach and player.

Matano brought Baraza to Sofapaka in 2009 and the signing paid off when the former goal-poacher helped Batoto Ba Mungu to win their first ever league title.

Nine years later, the duo will face off with Matano hoping to stamp his authority while Baraza will be out to show his former teacher that he was a good student.

“Matano is very tactical,’ Baraza said of his former coach as quoted by the club’s website.

“This will certainly be a clash between a teacher and his student.

“I want to show him that I was a good student of him by beating him on Sunday.”

Sofapaka are second on the log with 40 points while Matano’s Tusker are a distant eight places and 10 points behind their next opponent.
