Harambee Starlets coach David Ouma congratulates players despite Awcon miss

Harambee Starlets coach David Ouma heaped praise on his players despite missing a ticket to the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations.

Starlets fell at the last hurdle to Equatorial Guinea and the country’s hopes of taking part in Ghana championship now rests with the Confederation of Africa Football.

This is after Football Kenya Federation lodged a complaint against Equatorial Guinea for fielding ineligible players in the qualifiers.

Equatorial Guinea overcame a 2-1 lose away in Kenya to knock Starlets out with a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture at home on Saturday.

“We put up a great fight to reach this far. I want to congratulate the players for pushing themselves to the limit,” a proud Ouma said of the girls as quoted by the federation website.

A goal apiece by Gloria Chinasa Okoro and Salome Ghyslaine Nke denied Kenya a ticket to the 2018 AWCON, set to be held in Ghana in November 2018.
