Gor Mahia captain Haron Shavaka upbeat despite fixture congestion

Gor Mahia Captain Haron Shakava is optimistic the team will stand the test of time despite congestion in fixtures.

The Kenyan Premier League champions are chasing a back-to-back domestic title as well as the regional and continental titles.

K’Ogalo are poised to battle at Caf Confederation Cup, set to run through to August. In between, the Dylan Kerr led side will have to shuffle through FKF Shield as well as Cecafa Kagame Cup fixtures with a trip to Liverpool also forming part of the menu.

Despite having three catch-up league matches to play, Shakava insists that the quality and depth in the squad will help them a wade through. “This year is a very tight one for us because we are engaged in quite a number of competitions.

"With all that, we are calm and focused because we have good depth in the team and I think we will manage,” Shakava was quoted by the club website.

Shakava has, however, called for focus if K’Ogalo are to lift all the six titles up for grab with the Super Cup already tucked in the cabinet.

“I think we are on the right track…we will maintain our focus and have the best attitude.”

Gor Mahia will play two league matches in the next five days before departing for Tanzania for the Cecafa tournament.

After the regional tournament, Gor Mahia will board a plane to England to play Everton in a friendly at Goodison Park.
