Ghana FA urged to consider former coach Kwesi Appiah

A former coach of Ghanaian side Ebusua Dwarfs wants Ghana Football Association to appoint known face James Kwesi Appiah as the next Black Stars coach.

J.E Sarpong claims that Appiah, who led Ghana between 2012 and 2014, did a good job and deserves to be reconsidered for the vacant position.

“Ghanaians would want to see the coming back of Kwesi Appiah but personally I think his comeback would be a positive one and victory for him,” Sarpong told Abusua FM.

“I would have wished Akwesi Appiah is appointed as Ghana’s next coach because he did well in my opinion when he was handed the opportunity for the very first time in 2012.

“Apart from the late C.K Gyamfi and the likes who won the four African titles no foreign coach has been able to win any African trophy for us so why do we keep wasting our time on such coaches, no white man can give us glory if you ask me,” he added.

Appiah was dismissed following the Black Stars’ debacle at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, where they failed to progress from the group stage.

He is currently the head coach of Sudanese side Al Khatoum and has submitted his application for the Ghana job alongside 70 others, according to reports.
