French club in South Africa to watch Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Percy Tau

Following his stellar performances for Mamelodi Sundowns in the past few seasons, striker Percy Tau has attracted interest from three European clubs.

The speedy attacker has not only showed his quality for the Brazilians, but he has continued to display his finest attacking prowess at national team level for Bafana Bafana.

In the recent Fifa international break, he netted one goal as they beat Zambia in the Four Nations tournament in Ndola where they overcame the Chipolopolo 2-0.

The 23-year-old Witbank-born striker has made headlines in this current term as he continues to find the back of the net and providing crucial assists for Pitso Mosimane’s men.

He is the club’s leading goalscorer with nine goals and trails the Premier Soccer League top scorer, Rodney Ramagalela (who has 10 goals) by one and are sitting at the top of the PSL standings.

On the other hand, he has also led Sundowns’ attack in the Caf Champions League as well scoring their only goal at the 2016 Fifa Club World Cup in Japan against Jeonbuk Hyundai from South Korea.

However, the man tipped to walk away with the 2017/18 PSL Player of the Year Award could leave the 2016 African champions as he is courted by clubs in Greece, Denmark and France.

According to the club’s spokesperson, Thulani Thuswa, he revealed on Saturday morning that a French club is in the country to watch him against Cape Town City in the Nedbank Cup on Sunday afternoon.

“There are clubs from Greece, Denmark and one in France interested in Tau, but the one from France has sent scouts who are already in the country to watch him play against Cape Town City,” Thuswa said to Umhlobo Wenene FM (Sabc radio station).

“The French club is more serious but I cannot divulge the name for now. At his age, he is scoring at club level and for Bafana, he is quality," said Thuswa.

“He is doing well, we know he played in Caf Champions League, he played at the Club World Cup and doing extremely well for the club in the PSL - what else do you need a player to do in order to win the PSL Player of the Season Award," he continued.

“Look, we have the likes of Itumeleng Khune, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the league and doing well for Kaizer Chiefs," he noted.

“We also have Siphelele Ndlovu from Maritzburg United, these are all good players, but Tau has done well and is tops,” concluded the spokesperson.

The 23-year-old former Witbank Spurs striker has netted 10 goals for the club in all competitions coupled with as many assists and will hope to add more when they meet the Citizens.
