Emery offers Ramsey no assurances over his Arsenal future

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has remained tight-lipped on Aaron Ramsey's current situation at the club as he edges closer to the end of his current deal at the Emirates.

The Welsh playmaker has been ever present for the Gunners at the start of the 2018-19 campaign, most recently starring in Wednesday night's Carabao Cup win against Brentford.

Ramsey already has well over 200 appearances under his belt for the North Londoners and is widely considered to be one of the team's most creative players, but the wider consensus on his time at the club is that he has never quite managed to live up to his immense potential.

Emery's men are on a great run of form at the moment after a difficult opening two weeks of the season, having won their last six games in all competitons, to re-iginite their challenge for a top-four finish.

However, speculation linking Ramsey with a move away from the club has been rife over the last few weeks and reports in the media suggest that contract talks between Arsenal and the midfielder have broken down in the last 24 hours.

In Friday's press conference ahead of a Premier League showdown with Watford on Saturday, when pressed on the 27-year-old's future the Spanish coach stated: "There are three elements, three aspects. One is the player and also the player with their family and representatives. The other is the club and the other is the squad. My focus is always on the team.

"My focus is preparing with the players and only thinking about the match tomorrow. Each player has individual aspects to work or to do or to speak with the club or with the team, but my focus is only preparing for the matches and to speak with the players so they are very concentrated on giving the best possible performance for the team"

Should Ramsey indeed end up leaving the club next summer there would be no shortage of potential suitors for his signature, but it would be a great surprise if Arsenal let him go for nothing considering his potential value in the current market.

The Wales international will have to put the whole incident behind him for the time being to focus on facing the Hornets tommorow, where he is likely to feature in Emery's starting line-up once again as the Gunners chase another important three points.
