As Neto recovers in a Colombian hospital, doctors have decided against informing the crash survivor about the tragedy and he has reportedly been asking about the result of the game they were travelling to play against Atletico Nacional in the first leg of the final of the Copa Sudamericana.

Chape's doctor Carlos Mendonca told TV Globo that a psychologist had advised against telling the player about the air crash at this stage.

"It's a recommendation from the psychologist not to tell him [on the plane crash] just yet to avoid any emotional shock that would be potentially damaging for his clinical recovery at this moment," Mendonca told Globo.

"So we should follow this qualified opinion for now."
