Brave FC Robo Queens lose to Sunshine Queens

Winifred Eyebhokia put a major dent in FC Robo’s hopes of Super Four qualification by scoring the decisive goal in a priceless win for Sunshine Queens, who survived a late scare to cling on for the win in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Premier League encounter.

Sunshine Queens were on course for a goalless draw that would have done the visitors few favours but Eyebhokia’s strike from the penalty spot settled scores at the Akure Township Stadium.

Mercy Joseph handled the ball in her penalty area, with goalkeeper Damilola Amofe failing to stop the resulting kick.
Fehintola Mabokanje and captain Rasheedat Ajibade saw their chances go begging in the opening game, and their profligacy ultimately proved costly.

Despite this defeat, FC Robo would be hoping to bounce back with a home win against Abia Angels in their next NWPL fixture at the Fifa Goal Project ground of the National Stadium on June 28, 2017.
