Aubameyang signs off for international break with goal number 23

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang took his goal tally to 23 goals in 23 games for Borussia Dortmund when he struck the only goal of the game in BVB's 1-0 victory over Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga on Friday, signing off for international duty in style.

With his latest strike, Aubameyang remains atop the goalscoring charts amid stiff competition from rivals Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich and FC Koln's Anthony Modeste [below], who have 21 and 22 goals respectively. His winner has helped Dortmund close the gap to second-placed RasenBallsport Leipzig who have now gone three games without a win after they were outclassed 3-0 by Werder Bremen.

Aubameyang swept home a Marcel Schmelzer cross with the first chance of the game to net early in Friday's contest, while Modeste netted a hat-trick in Koln’s 4-2 win over Hertha Berlin to keep pace with the division's two traditional superstar strikers.

The Gabon international struggled at the Nations Cup on home soil, but has improved dramatically in recent weeks, scoring nine in his last five, and will look to help the Panthers in their upcoming international against Guinea on Friday.
