Ajax Cape Town have confirmed the departure of star striker Tendai Ndoro only six months after joining the club.
The Urban Warriors were recently relegated to the National First Division (NFD) as their world was turned upside down following the decision to deduct points due to Ndoro’s ineligibility.
Since joining Ajax Ndoro was embroiled in a long-drawn out saga where he was found guilty of playing for three clubs in one season, something which contradicts Fifa rules. After departing Orlando Pirates at the beginning of the 2017/18 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, Ndoro went on to play for Saudi Arabian side Al Faisaly, only for him to make a surprise return to SA football months later.
Much was expected of the 33-year-old, and at first it seemed as though he was the answer to their woes. But Ndoro would score just one goal in seven appearances and due to the ongoing investigation, he was eventually barred from playing any further part in their fight for survival until a decision was finally reached.
Nonetheless, it seems that Ajax are ready to cut their losses and part with the player as they prepare for life in South African football’s lower league., albeit while they continue to contest the decision.

In a statement issued by the club on Monday afternoon, Ajax confirmed that they have opted against renewing the contract of Ndoro, which is set to expire at the end of the month.
“Ndoro’s contract was up for renewal at the end of this month (June 2018), however the club have opted not to extend his stay at Ikamva,” a statement issued by the club on their website read.
“The club would like to wish Tendai all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for his services over the past six months,” the statement concluded.
In the aftermath of the announcement, it now remains to be seen what lies ahead for the Zimbabwe international.
