WATCH: Julian Hall scores inaugural Leagues Cup goal in New York Red Bulls penalty shootout loss to Monterrey

Julian Hall marked his first Leagues Cup goal, opening the scoring in the 19th minute after receiving a perfectly weighted through ball from midfielder Daniel Edelman in the match against Monterrey. 

The teenage attacker raced through on goal and fired a powerful finish past goalkeeper Luis Cárdenas to give New York the lead. Monterrey equalized before halftime when Sergio Canales converted a rebound in the 38th minute.

The MLS side eventually lost 5-3 on penalties, with Alexander Hack missing his spot-kick for them.

Hall's goal represents another significant milestone in the young attacker's development with the New York Red Bulls. His clinical finish against Monterrey demonstrates why he's considered one of the club's most promising homegrown talents.

RBNY now face a must-win situation in their final Leagues Cup group stage match against Juarez on Aug. 7 to have any chance of advancing to the knockout rounds.
