  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The United States international, who moved to Liga MX from FC Cincinnati earlier this month, scored a brace on Sunday as Monterrey beat San Luis 3-1. Vazquez opened the scoring for his side in the 15th minute when he converted a brilliant looping header from nearly 18 yards away from goal. Sebastian Vegas had set up an inch-perfect curling cross from the left flank, and the striker showed great technique to steer it home.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Mateo Klimowicz netted the equaliser for the visitors in the 32nd minute but Vazquez soon restored his team's lead when sliding a superb finish into the net from Jorge Rodriguez's pass. Sergio Canales then further increased their tally in the second half which sealed an important win for Monterrey.

    WHAT NEXT FOR BRANDON VAZQUEZ?

    The 25-year-old forward is off to a flying start in Mexico having scored three goals in as many games so far. He will be next seen in action on February 4 when Monterrey take on Club America in a Liga MX clash.
