Vazquez has extensive MLS experience. The USMNT forward started his career at Atlanta United, before moving to FC Cincinnati in 2020. He scored 32 goals for the MLS club, and made the MLS All Star team in 2022. He was among Mauricio Pochettino's first two USMNT squads, and has totaled 11 appearances for his country.

San Jose are looking to retool this winter after bringing in former USMNT manager Bruce Arena in a dual general manager-head coach role. Any deal would require a designated player spot, which the Earthquakes currently do not have available.
