  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Teenage phenom Cavan Sullivan hit another milestone on Monday as the 15-year-old U.S. youth international notched a pair of assists to help the Philadelphia Union II clinch a playoff spot in their 2-1 win over the FC Cincinnati II in MLS Next Pro action.

Sullivan's first assist came in the 20th minute as he received a pass on the right side of the box and launched a curling cross toward Neil Pierre for the game's opening goal. Less than 20 minutes later, Sullivan would work some more magic to double Philadelphia's lead.

The forward got a long ball on a counter and charged up the right side of the box. He saw Eddy Davis III in the center of the pitch and used a quick stepover before launching the ball towards the forward's feet and into net in the 37th minute. The goal would eventually be the Union II's winner.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sullivan has quietly had a productive summer on the development front, spending some time with Manchester City - where he is expected to land when he turns 18 - and playing with their youth teams.

In MLS, the Philadelphia-native has made 10 appearances this season, including one start. He last played for the senior club against the Fire, making a 16-minute cameo in his team's 4-0 win.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR THE UNION?

With the international break happening, the Union resume action on Sept. 13 against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
