    THE BIGGER PICTURE

That decision was taken after seeing former England international Ben Foster head into retirement, with the Welsh outfit eager to avoid being left short in an important area of the field. Okonkwo is only 22 years of age – with limited experience under his belt from previous loan spells at Crewe and Sturm Graz – but he boasts the physical attributes to suggest that he could be a star in the making.

  • WHAT THEY SAID

Vastly-experienced Howard, who started his own career at Arsenal, has been speaking with Okonkwo on the Yours, Mine, Away! Podcast after seeing him up close in training and witnessing an impressive vertical leap test. “How tall are you?”, Howard asked. “I am six foot six,” Okonkwo replied. Howard added: “Now, while we’re on this, can we speak about your jump test because you’re a freak mate. We were getting you to do this in the gym the other day and it wasn’t fun, you’re a cheat code in yourself mate.”

    WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Okonkwo has featured in four League Two fixtures for Wrexham and is yet to end up on the losing side. He has kept two clean sheets and has picked up eight points from meetings with Crewe, Mansfield, Crawley and Salford – with the Dragons now up to fifth in the table as they chase down back-to-back promotions.
