    THE BIGGER PICTURE

A Tottenham Hotspur replica shirt costs the most - £85 - at the moment after slapping an additional £5 to their existing rates. Chelsea, on the other hand, sell their shirts at £84.95 per piece. Spurs and the Blues have also hiked the prices of kids' shirts by £5 as they currently sell them at £65 and £64.99 respectively. Wolves are the only club who have actually reduced their price from £60 to £58.

  • WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

Speaking to The Mirror, Scott Dixon, from The Complaints Resolver said: "This is a trend with clubs charging more and more every year. Clubs should make football more affordable for fans instead of seeing them as cash cows to rinse at every opportunity. The cost of living crisis is trotted out as an excuse to rip off fans at every opportunity, and this is no exception.

"The Bank of England reported inflation remaining steady at 2% recently, so clubs hiking prices of football shirts by up to 15% cannot be justified. Football clubs know loyal fans are willing to pay it and exploit their loyalty, although fans will question whether their loyalty is valued when they see the latest prices."

He added: "If you have your heart set on the latest football shirts, it may be worth waiting until after Christmas to buy in the sales. Football kits are at their most expensive when they have just been released. Shop around as well and look for voucher codes and deals online."
