Pato: "Maldini is a role model, Allegri is a winner. I hope Milan sign my son"

Former Milan striker Alexandre Pato is on tour in the United States as the Rossoneri’s ambassador for Fondazione Milan.

Interviewed in New York by Sportitalia, the former Brazilian striker spoke at length about his memories of the team now managed by Massimiliano Allegri, who was his former manager, his relationships with former teammates Ibrahimovic and Gattuso, and even dropped a sensational transfer rumour.

  • Maldini

""For me, he’s a man who taught me a great deal about responsibility in the game. I used to see him carrying on with his training after the session had finished. He was the sort of person you’d look at and say, ‘That’s someone to look up to.’ Two or three weeks ago, my wife and I were in Milan and we saw him on a billboard, and I said, ‘Now he’s a model’ (laughs, ed.). He’s brilliant; I have such high regard for him."

  • ALLEGRI AND IBRAHIMOVIC

"I have a lot of respect for Ibrahimovic; he's a great bloke. Allegri is brilliant; he's a tough character and a winner."

  • GATTUSO AND ITALY

"I sent Rino a message after Italy's win the other night. He deserves to qualify for the World Cup; I really hope he makes it. It's not easy, I know, but I'm really rooting for him and for Italy. But Brazil will win this World Cup (laughs, ed.)."
