After seeing their first bid of ÂŁ45 million with ÂŁ10 million in add-ons for Mbeumo getting rejected by Brentford, United have now come back with a new and improved bid of ÂŁ60 million ($81m), ÂŁ55m up front and ÂŁ5m in add-ons. The second bid is much closer to the Bees' asking price for the player, at around ÂŁ62.5m, the amount the Red Devils had paid for Matheus Cunha, according to The Standard.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Brentford have the upper hand in the transfer negotiations as they have the option to extend the player's contract by one more year when it expires in the summer of 2026. While United remain firm favourites to secure the transfer as the Cameroonian's preferred destination is Old Trafford, the Bees could welcome a bidding war with Tottenham also in the race.
